The subjects of my paintings reflect my love for the rural landscapes of the central coast
of California, where I have lived all my life. I am drawn to subjects that evoke the peaceful, joyful memories of my childhood. Farms, fields and harbors, along the central coast, are some of my favorite subjects. I try to find a dynamic balance between faithful drawing and a strong sense of design. I will change the composition freely and exaggerate or strengthen colors in order to achieve an outcome that is pleasing to me. Painting is a much more exciting process for me when there is a sense of freedom and exploration and when the outcome is somewhat unpredictable.
